In 2020 as COVID fundamentally shifted how we lived our everyday lives, I was invited by my dear friend Annie Carpenter to participate in Call Centre, a project begun by Allenheads Contemporary Arts in the UK.

Call Centre is …”a research project that is inviting people to share their experiences of this time of COVID-19 and how it has impacted on lives and creative processes.

It will engage regional, national and international artists from contrasting rural and urban areas. From their ‘outposts’ the six satellite artists and a writer will focus their research on a variety of areas including home, travel, being stranded, trust, fragility, confinement, politics, the domestic and motherhood.

Alan Smith and Helen Ratcliffe are working from the Call Centre hub at ACA Schoolhouse.”

I wrote three correspondences over the spring and summer of 2020, reflecting on the challenge of new motherhood and my art practice in the time of COVID.
